Take Nursing Education Courses Like…

The certificate program requires the completion of nine credits, which include the following:

  • (110 hour precepted experience is required).

Students who complete the certificate and have a master's or doctoral degree in nursing may qualify to take the National League for Nursing (NLN) Certification for Nurse Educator’s exam. Please refer to the NLN CNE website for additional information. Note that PhD students who are not NPs may elect to complete the Nursing Education courses to fulfill elective requirements, however they are not eligible to receive the certificate unless they additionally complete the 3P's (Advanced Pathophysiology, Physical Assessment, and Clinical Pharmacology). Completion of the 9 elective credits in education contribute to NLN CNE examination eligibility.

A non-certificate option of this program is available to nurses who hold a graduate degree in nursing but are not nurse practitioners. In this case, the three nursing education courses may be taken as elective courses to advance the knowledge and skills of nurses interested in faculty positions.
